Blog News: Website Downtime Update

Website Downtime Update

My web host HostGator.com experienced major networking outages for about 12 hours yesterday (Wednesday, April 16, 2014) and caused all of their 9 million hosted websites to go down. Here’s more details about the issue if you’re interested.

This issue caused all of my blogs/websites to go offline. I pretty much spent the entire day clicking the refresh button every couple minutes hoping my websites would be back online. It was very disappointing, but it looks like HostGator has finally fixed the issue 🙂

During the afternoon of April 16, 2014, the data center in Provo, Utah experienced a networking issue in some server clusters that affected some VPS, Dedicated and Shared server customers of Hostgator, Justhost, Hostmonster, and Bluehost. The outage began at approximately 11:00 AM PST and wasn’t yet resolved at 10:49 PM PST, affecting not only dedicated servers but also email delivery.

A little over a year ago, my wife and I were blessed with a beautiful baby girl (Emma). She has showed us a new world as we watch her grow and develop into a toddler. As new parents, we were lost and overwhelmed with our new bundle of joy. On top of all the new responsibilities that come with being new parents, it is also very costly. Vancouver Deals Blog: Upgraded to a New Powerful Dedicated Server!

Blog is now Hosted on New Powerful Dedicated Servers

You should have noticed that the blog loads a lot faster now. That’s because I upgraded my web hosting to a powerful new Dedicated Server about a week ago! I’ve been contemplating the upgrade for a while, but decided it was finally time to take the plunge. Thanks to your continued support, my traffic growth required me to make the move. You may have noticed my blog used to temporary go down ever so often whenever my traffic spiked.  

It was a big investment on my part. I went from paying $100/ year for a basic shared hosting account to well over $100/ month now for a private dedicated server. At the end of the day, I want what’s best for you – the best user experience possible by having an extremely reliable and fast loading website.

So proud to be Canadian! What an amazing Olympics! Thanks Canada!

Hope you all enjoyed the Men’s Hockey Gold Medal as much as I did. I’m a die-hard hockey fan. I woke up super early and watched the game at a local sports bar. The place was crazy packed. The atmosphere was awesome. I’m still a little drunk….

I was in Vancouver for the 2010 Olympics. It was one of the coolest experiences in my life. Can’t believe it was 4 years ago. I still remember it like it was yesterday.
