DVC Indoor Shooting Centre has almost every amenity you can think of: motorized target systems, 13 lanes, and shooting distances up to 17 yards from the firing line, just for starters. The center also offers options for various groups, ranging from corporate team-building events for up to 100 people, stag and stagette parties, and birthday parties for young and old. We talked to Wesley Yen of DVC’s management team to learn what sets the center apart and what first-time visitors can expect.

Don’t plan a long wait in line.

“It doesn’t take long to make it to the range,” Yen said. First-timers can expect a straightforward process that includes signing in, filling out a waiver, and checking over identification. After a safety briefing, they’re ready for the range.

It might be hard picking out a rental gun.

“We have the most around,” Yen said, referencing DVC’s selection of rental firearms. He considers this variety one of the center’s biggest draws. Handguns, shotguns, and revolvers are all available, so visitors can likely find what they’re looking for—whether that’s a 9 millimeter or .44 Magnum.

Some favorite firearms have emerged.

Yen noted that the Smith & Wesson 500—the “largest handgun in production”—and the Desert Eagle, .50 AE are two of the more popular handgun rentals. Also keep an eye out for the gun of the month listed on DVC’s website.

Safety comes from experience.

DVC’s customers also benefit from its large staff. “We have more range officers and instructors than they’re likely to find anywhere else,” Yen said. That’s 21 range officers and 6 instructors, to be precise. Although not all of the officers work at once, all of them are range-safety certified and trained to oversee the range and answer guests’ questions.

Not all paper targets are created equal.

“Most choose the standard tactical target,” Yen said. However, there are plenty of options for visitors who want to get more creative. Hello Kitty–themed targets are particularly popular, as are zombies and other whimsical designs.

The range makes a good place for special events.

“We just had a Glock Day,” Yen said. “We collaborate on events with different gun brands.” DVC also hosts stag and stagette parties and works with charitable organizations, such as Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.
