Usually, the draw of going out to eat is allowing someone else to prepare your meal. But sometimes, it can be really fun to go to a restaurant where you prepare your own food. That’s the case at Point Zero Four Restaurant, where the hot pot reigns supreme. A traditional dining style in Beijing, the meal centers around a simmering pot of broth in which diners drop in raw ingredients to make a custom stew. At Point Zero, there are 14 soup bases, which range from the simple Chinese herb to more exotic stocks of lamb viscera and spicy chicken skeleton. The ingredients selection is similarly diverse, as it includes mushrooms, cucumber salad, frog legs, and salmon belly. Chinese-style barbecue is the restaurant’s other specialty. Its cuts of chicken knuckle and lamb kidney are more exotic than American barbecue, but they’re still cooked over fire and infused with a smoky flavour.
