Brigitte Raye knows French cuisine. After co-owning a local French café for 11 years, she taught her son Kevin everything she knows and appointed him head chef of her new venture, La Cigale French Bistro. Together, they compose the simple and exquisite flavors the south of France is known for, including succulent coq au vin and tagliatelle with black olives and asparagus. Though the dinner options are plentiful, leaving space for chef Kevin’s desserts is well-advised: whether choosing his apple tart or his Cigale’s crumble, each sweet dish comes out immaculately presented—almost gift-wrapped—and classically balanced. The bistro’s 26 wines transport flavors from Bordeaux and Cotes du Castillon to each table, with each available by the glass or bottle. La Cigale also hosts regular events, such as Music for Brunch with live tunes, and the Secret Science Café, where scientists discuss their inspiring work with café patrons and try not to overly excite every molecule in the room.
