In order to fully appreciate his edible creations, chocolatier Paul Dincer says that you should enjoy them slowly. That way, you’ll notice the nuances that result from making chocolates directly from the raw cocoa beans. Koko Monk is one of few companies on the continent that crafts its sweets this way, and the artistry doesn’t stop there—the chocolates are handmade and hand-painted to suit their themes. Swirls of blue and white mix with the rich, Belgian chocolate of the Blue Moon, which combines chocolate with blue cheese. Likewise, the Jade Box pairs chocolate with green tea in a vivid, emerald-colored confection.

Koko Monk complements its chocolate catalogue with artisanal bars, also made from the raw beans into vegan, gluten-free, and organic desserts. Inside the shop, visitors can savor hand-made macarons from a German pastry chef, sip some intense Turkish coffee, or try to hunt for the underground reservoir that must connect to the chocolate fountain.
