Frustrated with the often intimidating and unwelcoming atmosphere afforded to nonprofessional dancers in dance classes, Jane Stevens and her sister Anne founded iDance. The sisters designed their studios to be fitness-oriented and engage people from a variety of backgrounds. Four years and three locations later, Jane upholds her original goals of egalitarian dance both by employing a team of friendly and motivating instructors and by offering classes that cater to pupils of all abilities. Hints of Jane’s background as both a skilled dancer and dedicated group-fitness instructor can be found in each studio as instructors lead classes ranging from traditional movement methods such as ballet and jazz to classes that fuse fitness and dance including cardio salsa, yoga dance, and underwater hokey pokey. Dancers can enjoy any of iDance’s three locations: in Vancouver, North vancouver, and Langley.
