What is a fan of the musicality of art without a performance to experience? It’s time to find your way to Opera Pro Cantanti and see what true professionals look and sound like.

Opera Pro Cantanti is Canada’s only repertory opera company. Each year they present several great operas from the standard repertoire, alternating performances of these operas throughout their season. Opera Pro Cantanti performs nearly every Sunday evening and will also occasionally have special performances on other days, or at other venues. They perform their own productions of Verdi’s La Traviata, Rigoletto, Macbeth and Nabucco. Donizetti’sLucia di Lammermoor, Bellini’s I Puritani and I Capuleti e i Montecchi. During the next two seasons will be adding a couple more Verdi operas to their repertoire; in anticipation of the Verdi Anniversary Year (2013). Opera Pro Cantanti performs with traditional sets and costumes, created by the company members themselves. Their performance venue is a beautiful little heritage hall, much smaller than any professional opera house. This intimate setting brings the opera closer to the audience, condensing all of the passion and intensity and allowing the audience to experience a rare connection with the singers onstage. Some of Opera Pro Cantanti’s lead singers are established professional singers, but their roster also includes several company members who came to sing in the chorus but soon proved capable of taking on some of the most demanding roles in all of opera. Their shows will be a treat for your sense and for the artistically inclined in anyone, always leaving you wanting more!
