Lap up today’s Groupon in moderate proportions: for $20, you get $40 worth of gourmet cuisine and wine at Divino Wine Bar.

Chosen by Vancouver magazine as serving one of the city’s 10 Best Meals, Divino delights palates with discriminately chosen wines and a commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients. Chef Cameron Picyk brings an Italian sensibility to Divino’s menu of Pacific Northwest cuisine after plying his skills in Australia and Europe. Lighter bites include olives marinated in a house blend of lemon zest and garden-fresh thyme ($6) and wild elk carpaccio, served with wild celery, pine nuts, and pecorino cheese ($14). Mains showcase choice meats, such as roasted beef strip loin nestled with confit fingerlings and morel mushroom jus ($28). Dessert selections unveil such creative plates as mixed berry compote with mascarpone mousse ($7).

The 34-seat indoor dining space and 32-seat patio invite oenophiles to chat about investing in an online farm while sampling the wines chosen by sommelier Sam Jonnery, who happily recommends pairings as well. The extensive list surveys varietals from around the world, such as the 2008 Veramonte pinot-noir reserva from Chile ($11/glass, $33/split) and the 2008 Flying Kiwi sauvignon blanc from New Zealand ($9/glass, $30/split).
