I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at our friends Chris Myden’s site YVR Deals.

Delta is currently having one of their unadvertised fare drops, similar to what I reported on November 15 here on the blog. It didn’t last long last time, so if Delta dashed your travel dreams when they quickly put the prices back up, this might be your chance.

This time, Chicago looks to be included as one of the cities that is being offered at the cheap price.

There also looks to be a few cities that were not included this time around, including Atlanta, Memphis, and Minneapolis.

One of the reasons it’s so interesting is that it’s affected dates as far away as October 2013, and there even looks to be cheap ones available in the peak months of July and August, with the next cheapest airlines having fares that are 40% higher.

The easiest way to view which dates are available is to take a look on Google Flights:

There are some absolutely ridiculous prices verifying on Vayama.com from Seattle to Asian destinations at the moment.

The #1 (and only) rule? *Do not call*, either Vayama or the airline. That will kill the deal faster than anything. Just book it online and hope for the best. Do not call to ask about seat selection, or anything else, you can do that later, once your ticket has been issued.

June 12-20 and June 12-27 from Vancouver to Glasgow, Scotland just dropped to $563 roundtrip after taxes.

Here’s how to find them…

1. Go to http://www.canadianaffair.ca

2. Search for a flight from Vancouver to Glasgow, using the dates of June 12 to 20 or June 12 to 27.

3. After you hit ‘Find Flights’ you’ll see a page that says ‘What do I do now?’

On this page, click on the words ‘Special Flight Offers’ .You’ll see the 2 date options. Click on ‘Book’.

You’ll notice that the price is listed at $548 after tax, but If you click on the price breakdown you’ll see that Canadian Affair is charging a booking fee of $15. After checking out Air Transat’s site directly, I noticed it was still cheaper to book these flights through Canadian Affair (this is not always the case, I usually check both). Air Transat’s site is showing them as $649.

There’s also a great price to Amsterdam on Air Transat at the moment. June 4-17 is down to $548 roundtrip after taxes. You can see that one on AirTransat.ca

And to London, June 8-16 (or June 2-15) has also hit rock bottom, at $549 roundtrip after taxes.

Air Transat tends to make their biggest price cuts to Europe sometime within a month of departure. They’re focused on mostly April/May cuts at the moment, but even some June prices have been slashed.

It remains to be seen whether July flights to Europe will experience any price drops, especially with the Olympics in London. If there are to be cuts, they probably wouldn’t make them until late May or June at the earliest.

Here are the interesting ones I’ve seen for April/May/June. All can be found at http://www.airtransat.ca

Into Glasgow, Scotland and out of Amsterdam – April 23 to May 8 – $564 roundtrip after taxes. Air Transat’s multi-city flights can be a great deal, sometimes cheaper than a regular roundtrip flight (the opposite of what you’ll usually find on the major carriers), and great for anyone that wants to visit multiple European countries without backtracking. Just click on ‘Multi Destination’ before searching for a flight on Air Transat’s site.

Glasgow – April 30 to May 9 – $597 roundtrip after taxes

Amsterdam – May 7 to May 15 – $598 roundtrip after taxes

London – May 5 to 12 – $598 roundtrip after taxes

Into London, and out of Paris – May 4 to 18 – $612 roundtrip after taxes

Into Manchester and out of Glasgow – May 5 to 23 – $637 roundtrip after taxes

London – May 4 to 11 – $637 roundtrip after taxes

Frankfurt – May 6 to 14 – $681 roundtrip after taxes

Amsterdam – June 4 to 24 – $684 roundtrip after taxes

I’m seeing some very cheap flights to Newark’s (EWR) airport on Delta at the moment. I believe these might actually be as cheap as I’ve ever seen from Vancouver, about 55% cheaper than usual.

There’s a huge fare war to Amsterdam (AMS) going on at the moment. You do see the occasional charter flight on Air Transat to Amsterdam that drops down to this level, but it’s extremely rare to see many of the major airlines drop a price to Europe like this that affects such a large range of dates.

They look to have dropped the price of most flights that occur between now and mid-May 2012.

Here’s how to find them…

1. Go to http://www.kayak.com

2. Do a 3 day flexible date search for a roundtrip flight from Vancouver to Amsterdam that occurs between now and May 15, 2012.

3. The airlines involved in this fare war appear to be Air Canada, United/Continental, Lufthansa, American Airlines, and possibly others. Some of the flights have good routings, some don’t.

What you want to do after your search on Kayak is click on the dropdown menu beside ‘Sort’ and choose ‘Duration (short to long)’.

Next, you’ll want to use the price slider on the left hand side and bring it down to $650 or so. Now you’re looking at the fastest flights that are under $650 roundtrip after taxes.

Here’s an example search in April 2012 to get you started:

Of course you can also use this as a ‘gateway’ flight to get somewhere else cheaply in Europe. Plenty of low-cost carriers have flights from Amsterdam.

United just made a huge unadvertised price cut on their flights to New York’s LGA (Laguardia) airport. Typically, the bottom price from Vancouver to New York sticks around $550 roundtrip after taxes. So flights that are 35% cheaper than that bottom are definitely notable.

They seem to have dropped a large range of flights, from now all the way up until May 2012. There’s also some in June/July of 2012 for $40 more.

How long will this cut last? As always, it’s impossible to say. In my experience, unadvertised fare drops on United typically last about 24-48 hours at most.
