The Cellar Restaurant and Jazz Club plays host to rotating roster of provincial, Canadian, and global jazz greats. Owner Cory Weeds uses his influence and expertise as a Vancouver-area musician, producer, radio host, and professional saxophone breeder to provide a stage for international instrument-tamers such as David “Fathead” Newman, Tom Harrell, and Charles McPherson. At nightly performances, solo acts and groups swagger up and down the pentatonic scale through genres spanning jazz, blues, bebop, and swing. Throughout the evening, patrons can hydrate tongues doing the Charleston with sips of house cocktails and martinis. A Dark and Stormy flaunts its blend of dark rum and ginger beer, and a Big Weeds pairs bourbon and cherry brandy with orange and lemon juices. Guests can also imbibe wines such as the Jackson Triggs meritage or the See Ya Later pinot noir. Due to popularity, guests should reserve their desired attendance night about one month in advance or be prepared to wrestle a tuba for a seat.
