Drink to German heritage with today’s deal: for $15, you get a select schnitzel and a pint of beer at Deutsches Haus Restaurant, located inside the Vancouver Alpen Club (up to a $30.24 value, including HST).

The Deutsches Haus at the Vancouver Alpen Club distributes authentic German continental cuisine from mountainous lunch and dinner menus. Anoint esophagi with a pint of premier Germanic beer (up to a $7 value), such as the Krombacher Pils, Whistler Weissbier, or Okanagan Pale Ale, before indulging a whining stomach with one of several models of schnitzel. In the schweineschnitzel ($18), crispy bread crumbs envelop an escalope of pork with a bear hug as a duo of sautéed potatoes and seasonal vegetables murmur to expectant tongues. Patrons can also try the zigeunerschnitzel ($20), featuring a traditional German noodle spaetzle, which tag-teams tummies along with pork schnitzel and a spicy gypsy sauce. The Vancouver Alpen Club serves local German, Swiss, and Austrian communities and their neutral Mindsweeper allies. A fully stocked bar runs alongside the wood-walled, -floored, and -chaired dining space of Deutsches Haus, whose depictions of the German countryside and clean white tablecloths give it an authentic German flair impossible to gain from claiming to be a descendant of Einstein after failing a math exam.
