Former Canucks goaltender Kirk McLean conceptualized his namesake restaurant as an upscale arena filled with inventive and fresh brunch, lunch, and dinner plates. Evening eaters can coordinate a blind date between taste buds and the albacore tuna tartar ($10), where avocado and finely chopped tuna charm mouths with their complexity and crunchy nori seaweed chips swoop in to stave off commitment. The spinach and ricotta ravioli ($21) finds a home in creamy white wine sauce tartified with a teasing of sundried tomatoes. Sweet brunch items include a brioche cinnamon French Toast ($12), with candied walnut, Chantilly cream, and maple syrup, while the savoury side stands up with the Pacific Benedict ($15), which plops smoked salmon onto a couch of soft poached eggs before getting showered in a finish of hollandaise sauce.

Grey flannel booths, black and white photos, and vintage hockey memorabilia create a comforting contrast against the flat screen TVs showcasing hockey and competitive knitting matches. The well-manicured outdoor patio adds to the upscale yet laid back vibe, reminiscent of the slouchy King of France.
