The Deutsches Haus at the Vancouver Alpen Club distributes authentic German continental cuisine in an open, wood-outfitted dining area. Anoint esophagus canals with a pint of premier Germanic beer, such as the Krombacher Pils, Whistler Weissbier, or Okanagan Pale Ale, before indulging a yodeling stomach with one of several shades of schnitzel. Concerning the schweineschnitzel, crispy bread crumbs envelope an escalope of pork with a fried bear hug as a duo of sautéed potatoes and seasonal vegetables whisper sweet nothings to the buds of expectant tongues. Spaetzle, a traditional German noodle, tag teams tummies along with pork schnitzel and a spicy gypsy sauce, and the kalbsschnitzel recruits veal, potato salad, and green asparagus to quell hunger pangs with smart, Germanic efficiency. A fully stocked bar runs alongside the wood walled, floored, and chaired dining space.
